Sorry, this item has sold.

I have used matte onyx beads in 3 different sizes along with a focal bead of Fordite. The colors are layered with golds, white, blacks, oranges, blues, reds, etc. All of which were probably the colors of somebody's family car. I have added this beaded section to 2mm black leather cord with sterling clasp. It measures 18 inches in length.

Fordite is something new that I recently discovered. It is called Fordite or "Detroit Agate" or "Motor Agate". It is manmade and has quite a history. It is a unique automotive enamel material and is from the now extinct practice of hand spray-painting multiples of production cars in big automotive factories. Over time, many colorful layers of paint built up on the tracks or skids that car frames were painted on. These layers were hardened repeatedly in the ovens that the car bodies went into to cure the paint. This practice is no longer used so the factory methods that created this incredible material are long gone.

The Fordite "mines" are dry, so get some while you still can.
